Frame will not cock with 45 barrel
« on: July 18, 2011, 11:42:49 AM »
I have a 45 ACP rifle barrel that will lock up, and work fine on one frame, but when placed on the other frame ,the frame will not cock. My other barrels work fine on both frames. Any suggestions? Thanks

It is the locking lugs. They need a little fitting so they go fully into lock up and allow the the hammer to cock. If the barrel works fine on one of your frames I would not bother with trying to fit it to the other if it was me.

You may want to try adding an extra washer to the bolt that holds the stock to the action. If the bolt if a little long it can stop the hammer from working. At least that happened to me.

I have 4 frames and my new MGM 223 barrel only locks up on one of them.  ;)  Guess which frame I'll be using that barrel on?
